At the start of the '80s a group of
missionaries, mostly americans, established themselves at Catania with
the goal of establishing a church. Through the use of a local Radio-Station,
and by using other forms of evangelism, they established regular meetings
and gradually the number of believers began to grow. Initially the group
met in a hotel-hall. Subsequently a hall was rented in the western suburbs
of the city, close to S. Giovanni Galermo. After years of leadership by
the missionaries, it was possible to see the responsability of the comunity's
leadership put into the hands of Italians. Currently, brother Antonio Trovato,
aided by a worthy group of brothers and sisters, leads the 'Chiesa Biblica
Cristiana'. Apart from the regular meetings already mentioned, we remember
different specific activities which at different times are organised; for
example the work among the youth, the home 'cell' meetings and the
different practice sessions for the music group. At present the comunity
has about 80 people who attend.
