During the '60s, a messinese emigrant:
Anthony Talamo Rossi, returned periodically from America to visit his relatives,
but, above all, to comunicate the Gospel ti his fellow-messinese. Susequently,
during the '70s, a comunity was formed. During the last decades the emphasis
of this comunity, with about 80 in membership - the 'Chiesa Biblica Cristiana',
has been on Bible-teaching and the resultant application of the truth of
the Word of God. The current pastor: John Gilmore, British missionary,
has been involved for many years leading this local church. Beyond the
meetings already mentioned, there are other meetings of differnt nature
- for youth, young couples, Bible school classses, house meetings...
About 10 years ago another point of
witness was established on the north Tyrennic coast, between Messina and
Milazzo, at Rometta Marea. Different families had been saved and it seemed
right consolidate their presence by opening a hall. At the present time,
the 'Chiesa Biblica Cristiana' of Rometta, has about 20 people who attend.
The leadership of the community is at the present time still responsability
of the 'mother' church in Messina.
